BIO:
Formed in Chicago, IL in October of 2004, Dance Club Massacre plays an experimental blend of grindcore interspersed with metal, punk and thrash with lots of indie rock undertones. Their influences include The Locust, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, An Albatross, Daughters, Converge, Horse the Band, Fantomas, Pig Destroyer and Between the Buried and Me. The general vibe of the group is much more light hearted than most bands in the genre with their lyrical themes primarily focusing on horror movies, partying, girls, beer and generally having fun and enjoying life.
What is now Dance Club Massacre started simply as a recording project between two friends. The three songs that were recorded were described as Halloween-core and would be the basis for the band's future writing. After many friends heard the demos and loved them, it was decided to turn the project into full band. The final lineup became Nick Seger (vocals), Jon Caruso(drums), Chris Mrozek(bass), Mitch Hein(guitar), and Matt Hynek(keyboards).
In early 2005 DCM recorded a 7 track demo recorded at Blam recording in Chicago by engineer Eric Butkus (Tower of Rome, Pedro the Lion). The release was limited to 150 hand pressed copies with burned cds in a half manila envelope and photocopied artwork pasted on and sold only at shows and through paypal on myspace.
In April of 2006 DCM recorded Feast of The Blood Monsters in Chicago with Eric Butkus now at Evil Plan to Record the World Studios which was again self-released this time with actual packaging and a pressing of 1100. The release was sold at shows, local indie record stores and online interpunk.com and has stayed within the site's 50 top selling items ever since its release on June 6th ,2006.
After being brought to the attention of the label by BMA alumni, Psyopus, the now out of print release is being re-issued on BMA remixed, remastered and with new artwork and packaging courtesy of Discordant Art (http://www.discordantart.com). The group has shared the stage with Ed Gein ,The Number Twelve Looks Like You, An Albatross, Heavy Heavy Low Low, Modern Life Is War, Since By Man, Arsonists Get All The Girls, See You Next Tuesday, Psyopus, The Devil Wears Prada and Tower of Rome.
